Step 1: Section and curl.

Start by sectioning the hair. There’s no right or wrong way, just section it the way you’re comfortable with. It also doesn’t have to be perfect, we love beachy waves for its messy look. But please, leave the front section of your hair (on both sides) for curling later.

Take one section of your hair at least halfway through the entire hair length. Make sure you section it vertically as this makes the best waves. Take your curling iron and then clamp the section of the hair. Start curling in a direction towards the face. Remember to curl all the way to the roots of the hair or as close to it as you can and then stop curling around an inch from the end of the hair.

Slowly loosen and tighten the clamp while moving down the hair and then let go. Run your fingers through the curls to separate the curls.

Do the same steps for the other hair sections until you curl your hair completely.

Step 2: Curl the front sections.

Remember the front sections you left untouched, it’s time to curl them now. The same curling process applies, only this time, you will curl away from your face.

Step 3: Spray and scrunch.

Now that you entire hair has been curled, you can give it a bit more of a tousled look by scrunching your hair or tossing it around. This will give your hair that messy look beachy waves need. This is also the time to create extra curls like if you see some hair strands that aren’t curled enough or take on small strands and curl them.

If you’re done and you think that your beach waves are good to go, apply styling spray to help keep the waves in place. After spraying, scrunch the hair to give it more texture and definition. Keep scrunching until you’re satisfied with the look.
